Error 3075 "Function isn't available in expression in query expression

I receive this error when I reload an updated version of a file with a query built on the updated table that includes a new field defined from a concatenation of portions of 3 separated fields. The first time I received this error, microsoft techs had me check the Tools/Reference to make sure that visual basic, MS Access 8.0, MS DAO 3.5 and MS Office 8.0 were all checked. This time they are all check and I continue receiving this error. I have even reloaded Office 97 to no avail. I am working on a time sensitive application which is already overdue and I really need some help.<br>

Are you in Access 2000?<br>
if so then DAO must be version 3.6<br>
