Hello I need some advice please. Let me set the stage. I have a MSSql 2000 database set up on a server computer. Also on this server computer is installed MSAccess 2000. I have several workstation PC's which are connected to this server computer via ethernet. On each of these workstation PC's is installed MSAccess 2000. On the server computer resides a MSAccess database file. What I have done is to create shortcuts on all the workstation PC's to this MSAccess file on the server. I should mention that the MSAccess file on the server is not actually a database with tables, just an interface to the MSSql2000 database on the server. I use the MSAccess forms to enter, delete, retrieve, query and display information from the MSSql2000 database. Now when more than 1 workstation PC opens this file I get the error 3050, unable to lock file. Is it acceptable to copy this MSAccess file from the server and paste it to the desktop of each workstation PC. What impact, if any, will this have on multiple copies connecting to the MSSql2000 database at the same time ? Is this the correct way to enable multiple users or is there a better one. Thank you for any advice.
