Hi All,

Error code as stated above.

Have done a fresh install of backup exec 9.1 on windows NT Server.
The account the services are using to run is a member of domain admins and local administrators on the server(which is a BDC).

All services start ok apart from the BE Job Engine and BE Server.

Full error is

"Error 2140: An internal Windows NT Error Occurred"

Have googled/technet this error but cannot find info relating to backup exec.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated since our email server is currently not being backup up!!!!

Thanks in advance,

Milby.

Probably won't help if you re-install.

There are a couple of things to look for.

1. If you have Outlook installed on the server, make sure you have a default mail client setup - easiest wayto do this is to setup a profile and when it comes up make sure to set it for default.

2. Change the services to manual - reboot, then try starting the services 1 by 1 - if they all start, there is a reg key to change which will let them start-up automatically when the server boots, can't think of it at the moment - will get it for you if this fixes the problem.

3. download the Component checker for MDAC - run this on the server - make sure there are no MISMATCHES - if there are, you will need to re-install MDAC - or roll it back -
Stop any BE services which have started - change them to manual.
dasetup /u (search for DASETUP.EXE on the server - go to that directory in the a cmd prompt and run it with the /u)
Reboot, when it comes up install MDAC - it's on the 9.1 download - winnt\install\be\mdac
reboot.
Try the services again.

4. With the services as manual, start the following:-

BE remote agent
BE Device and media service

Open a cmd prompt, change to the c:\program files\veritas\backup exec\nt directory
run the following - beserver - console
See if it starts up, or if there are any errors.
