Running Wn95 w/s and Win NT w/s on WinNT server4.0 sp 5, 5mb memory 10/100 nic card
approx 45 users and 7 printers

We had users getting disconnected from 1 network application after I started to run another application network wide. I opened the log event viewer and saw several instances of the following "The server was unable to find a free connection 41 times in the last 60 seconds. event id =2022
warning.

I checked the Knowledge base at microsoft = Q130922

but it points more towards a win 3.11 instance and a netware gateway share -.

The support info wants me to
go to regedt32
then \system\currentcontrolset\services\lanmanserver\paramaters

add value
maxfreeconnection dword data=8
(on my server this is what it is set to)

and then maxworkitems
reg_dword data=512

on my server it is set to hex 1000 or decimal 4096, so it looks like I have enough connections??
Yes ? NO?

Can I bump this number up and hope to not have disconnect problems?

I found 2 items referenced in tek-tips to Error 2022 but they were of no help.

Any thoughts ??

Thank You.

Have you check your licensing ? Peter Van Eeckhoutte

Peter,
Thanks for responding - I am not that familiar with the licensing as I came in after the system was installed. Is that license manager.(Im guessing that we have 100 licenses) ??? You really think this would be doing it ? Does each connection count as a license ?
like printers, modems ???

Thanks ,

Tom

tmandu:

From what you described, it looks like the both apps (am old and a new one) might use the same port.

I could be dead wrong - just try to check it out.
