Hi:

I am having trouble installing norton anti virus corporate edition. About 3/4 the way through the install i get an error:

Error 1920.Service NAVAPEL (NAVAPEL) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Here is some more info on the Norton, I hope it's enough

[Info]
Name=INTL
Version=1.00.000
DiskSpace=8000 ;DiskSpace requirement in KB

[Startup]
CmdLine=
Product=Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition
PackageName=NavCE.Msi
MsiVersion=1.10.1029.1
EnableLangDlg=N
SuppressReboot=Y

I am using Windows 2000 Server.

Anyone know what is causing this and how i can get by it?

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Have you ever installed NAV on that machine before? Are you able to uninstall it? I had a similar problem where I had a corrupt install. It wouldn't let me uninstall the program or re-install a fresh copy. The only work-around was to upgrade to a newer version. I believe the reason why you're getting this message is because the installer detects an existing version on your computer. Try a third-party uninstaller and see if that works.

If the 3rd party uninstaller fails, there's a doc in the Symantec KB about how to manually unistall NAV.

It's a bit of pain, but actually goes faster than you would think it would from reading the article. Not too terrible to do on one machine. I've found that it worked when I ran into a similar problem as you report. =============
