Hi all,

I've just installed Vista enterprise onto my machine and added it to the domain. I'm having trouble installing come applications though.

I get the error - Error 1324. The folder path 'My Documents' contains an invalid character.

The My Documents folder is redirecting using Group Policy to \\servername\username - so there are no spaces in it, except for the My Documents part.

The 2 applications that I'm having trouble with are Adobe Reader and also Citrix Client.

Anyone got any ideas on this?

Hi,

thanks for the reply.

I have about 100 users who are either using Win200 or XP and have their My Doc redirected using group policy. I only upgraded my PC to Vista on Monday, previously to that I was running XP with exactly the same settings as I have now. It's only on Vista that there is a problem. The path to My Documents is correct.

I see that Vista calls it Documents and not My Documents, that can't have anything to do with it?

See what you have listed in the Registry for "Shell Folders" and "User Shell Folders" for the value "Personal" as per this article.

See what you have listed in the Registry as per this older article.

"Error 1324. The folder path 'Documents and Settings' contains an invalid character" error message when you install Office 2000

I've checked all the entries there and everything is fine.

There is no reason for this not to work, as far as I can see.

The My Documents folder works. It's just when installing applications that I get the error.

Does anyone have the same setup as me and have it working?

i.e Vista installed on a domain pc, which has My Documents redirected via Group Policy? And with that setup managed to install Adobe Reader or Citrix Presentation Server Client?

This is starting to drive me nuts!
