I have a fresh copy of NT4 Server installed on Pentium III 450MHz machine, with 128MB RAM, 2048GB NTFS partition and service pack 3,4 installed. The graphics card (ATI) and NIC card were successfully recognised. I can see the network successfully, however, I can not get the new NT Server machine to appear on the Network Neighbourhood. Also when I try to start the Server services, the following error message appears :

Error 1130:"Not enough server storage is available to process this command."

Does anyone know how to overcome this problem or what could be preventing it from being started?

I need this Service running to enable me to install SQL Server 7.0 successfully.

I would be greatful for any ideas?

Rahel,

I think you may be installed the latest service pack before installing any network services. If the Srv.sys file is not present when the service pack is applied it is not updated because Update.exe updates only components that are installed on the Windows NT system. When Windows NT starts up after the network services have been installed from the original Windows NT CD-ROM, the original non-Service Pack 3 version of the Srv.sys file is used. To correctly work with the rest of the updated system files, the Srv.sys file must be updated to the same version as the installed service pack. To resolve this you may have to reapply the Windows NT Service Pack.

Rgds

You are right, thankyou for your help. Reinstalling service pack 4 fixed the problem.
