Can see the service (the service relates to our software which installs fine), in the services list however upon trying to start it keep getting an Error 0005 access denied?
Our service is on port 4998 am checking any software etc that may use this (doubtfull though)
In all honestly i dont know where to begin on this.

Its a NT server apperntly with SP5 on it but couldn't see any evidence of this (properties my computer) is there any place i confirm what sp there are on?

Check Add/Remove Programs in control panel. It might list what SP level is installed if you chose to backup files (for rollback) when the SP was installed. Also you can run regedit and check the value of -HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\CSDVersion

If access is denied when starting the server, check the account that the service is set to use, and if its not the system account, check that the user account password hasnt changed.
