Hey guys, a quick one I hope.

A mailbox where the inbox has "show total number of items" selected is showing more emails than are actually in the inbox. Does anyone have an idea why this may be. This isn't the UNREAD email issue that is similar in description, but the total contents (read and unread) of the inbox.

This isn't a local machine issue as the mailbox is used on a number of machines and all users see the increased total. User is worried that there may be some email hidden, or part proccessed that they are not seeing.

Thanks
NC

Is there a filter being applied? Assuming Outlook 2003 the item count it will show "filter applied" if there is one being applied.

Is the current view set to "all messages"?

Hope this helps.

Hey CM,
There is no filter benig applied, and the count is on the Inbox folder, this is the folder that all the mail comes into, then is moved out manually once the mail has been addressed.

Sounds like a shared mailbox with incorrect delegation rights. Private items are not shown by default in shared mailboxes. The owner of the mailbox needs to set Tools/Options/Delegates/Permissions/Delegates can see my private items
