An interesting problem - fairly standard FR setup with 12 remote nodes @ 128k to a primary T1. Has run cleanly for years but recently started behaving erratically - primarily CRC and framing errors. The impact is quite dramatic however and I am at a loss to eplain the cause...

The symptoms include initial excellent response times followed by erratic responses followed by a disconnect. Initially I thought I had discovered the problem when I found some of the remote devices had their subnet masks incorrectly configured, but I fixed that without resolving the primary problem. Could it still be related to subnet masks at some of the other nodes?

Any suggestions welcome - euipment is 3Com Netbuilder II at the primary, boundary routers at the remotes...

Where are you seeing the crc and framing errors? Remote side or at the host port?

If you have not made any configuration changes, and you suddenly start seeing errors, either run tests with the telco, or have them dispatch a tech to physically test the line.

If it's the entire network, then something had to change at the carrier level. All frame routers don't start taking errors for no reason.
