We have a Pervasive 8.1 (plus hotfix) database - which is accessed using both the relational and transactional engines. Our database is actually five sets of *.BTR files - each set is considered to be a branch and is stored in separate folders.
At the end of the business day there is a batch process (DOS based - transactional) that executes a set of programs against each branch that perform updates, inserts, deletes as well as a number of reports and extracts for other systems.
The thing we are struggling with is that the speed can vary from what we would consider to be acceptable (about 1 1/2 - 2 hours per branch) to very slow (5 - 6 hours per branch).
The popular opinion here is that it is a Pervasive problem - it could be - but the performance seems OK during the day - although there aren't any processes running during the day that are as intensive as our end of day batch.
Pervasive monitor can only really tell us that our processes are still running and we get a sense of how quickly or slowly they are running - it's not easy to figure out what could be slowing it down - I'm confident that it is not a "locking" issue as there are no other users accessing the system at that time and each branch is separate to the others.
Does anyone know of any utilities that can be used to give us an overall picture as to what is happening?
