Hello,

We have remote site in washington state, north carolina and florida. I am here in b-more, md where our call manager and unity servers reside. We have a problem with the MWI functioning properly. We have some that never come on when messages are left and some that never go off when messages are retreived. We have unity 4.0 build 4.0(3) and callmanager 3.2(2c).

If you refresh the WMI light in unity do they come one? Are you using Exchange or Notes?

It is what it is!!

no the refresh makes no difference. even if we unplug and restart/reset the phones the lights stay on or off respectively. We are using exchange.

There are a couple of possible issues here.

1) The Unity Directory Services account does not have the proper permission on the information store(s) to check for new messages.
2) You have a space or a comma (a few other characters will also do this) in your organization name that prevents Unity from logging into the accounts. I doubt it is this one, but I thought I would throw it out there.
3) WMI ports are not in synch between the Unity and call manager
4) Network issues are preventing the WMI packets from reaching the phones.

I am sure there are a few other, but this is a good start. Cisco has some good docs on how to troubleshoot the WMI on a Unity.

It is what it is!!

Wow thanks computerhighguy. i will do a little research and update this thread when i know something.

Thanks a bunch. The site looks excellent.

One problem is cisco states this

To Review Port Configuration for Message Waiting Indication (Non-Serial Integrations Only)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1 In the Cisco Unity Administrator, go to the System > Ports page.

Step 2 Review the existing port configuration and determine if one or more ports can be set only to Dialout MWI

in the system menu there is no option for ports..
