PC is a Dell GX150, 1GHz processor, PS2 Wheel mouse, 128MB DIMM, 20GB IDE HDD.
Win 98SE, MS Office 2K
The PC is in a workgroup with 3 others all running Win98.

The clock in the system tray displays incorrect time,(i.e., time form last evening or last night) which is corrected on reboot. Also, the mouse acts erratic in that it is sluggish after the PC has been on for several hours. Stopped all extraneous processes, disabled McAfee, etc. The PC still displays these activities.
Rebooting will disrupt work at other PCs. Any suggestions as to why the mouse is sluggish and the clock seems to freeze?

First do an independent check for viruses using an up-to-date scanner. Run SYSEDIT and check for any unnecessary drivers, devices being loaded etc. Do you have plenty of free space on the hard drive? Does the machine behave itself if run in SAFE MODE? From SAFE MODE run SCANDISK and then DEFRAG. Reboot machine and check for any improvement.

G0AOZ,

Thanks for the repsonse. It turns out that the backup software that came with the tape drive was causing the problem. I went to MSCONFIG and disabled it from the start up. The PC has been running great.
