Hi,

Can anyone help please.

We are a small office and using an ericsson MD110 system. We had a problem with an intermittent tone instead of a normal dialing tone. Managed to resolve this issue, it was a message, but for some reason I must have done something to the main switchboard phone as it no longer rings or flashes when there is an external phone call coming in. External calls are still coming into the office though.

The telephone extensions in another part of the office flash and ring when there is an external call (always have) and they are still ringing and flashing on the phones. As you can imagine a reception phone that cannot hear or see incoming calls or pick them up is a major problem.

I have checked and we dont have any support documenation available no adminstrator guide or anything. I have found user various guides online, but nothing deals with the issue we are having.

I was wondering if anyone could offer any advise. I assist with the computer software support and have been involved at previous places with patch panelling, but that is as far as my knowledge goes. I am sure this can be resolved quite quickly if I had the right codes to type in to the switchboard phone.

I have had the port replaced and tried a different phone in the same socket and new socket to elimate this as the cause. I have contacted our Telephone engineer and they have tested the line and is working fine, they dont offer support past this point. I can ring the switchboard internally from another number and it rings okay.

Having elimated all of the obvious, this means it must be related to the programming... can anyone point me the right direction.

Thanks,
David.

I might not be getting back to this site for a while so can't answer back and forwards but check these points.

1. Can you make a call from the reception phone. If you can then ring into it from an extension and see if you can pick it up even if it's not ringing. Basically make sure it's functional.

2. Check divert all has not been put in place.

3. If it's just a phone rather than a switchboard then check it's still in the ACD group for the reception number and that it's the main number.
