Hi,
I'm trying to connect some 4422 and 4425 IP phones to my MD110 using DHCP with Option 43. The phones are connected to the network via a Cisco 3560G. My problem is as follows:
"1. IP Phone gets power via 802.3af mechanism and starts up
2. IP Phone broadcasts a DHCP Discover without any 802.1q VLAN Tag (this is where your problems begin....)
3. DHCP Offer is sent from DHCP Server and should contain Vendor Specific Option 43 (either in the Standard Vendor Class or specifically in the Ericsson IP-Phone Vendor Class - I won't explain DHCP Vendor Classes here, do a search...)
4. IP Phone broadcasts a DHCP Request
5. DHCP Server sends a DHCP Ack (with Option 43)
6. IP Phone accepts DHCP Ack and sends an ARP for the IP Address to make sure its IP address is unique"
I can't get past step 6 as described in this answer I copied from another thread. Using Wireshark I can see that some phones send an ARP request and other phones don't and so get stuck at the "Getting DHCP Configuration" screen and go no further.I have not set any vlan configurations for the phones in their config file or in Option 43. Could the problem be down to different firmwares on the phones? My MD110 is running BC13 SP5 but I don't think that matters much when basic dhcp isn't working.
Thanks for any help in advance.
