Hello:

I'm new in Illustrator, and I'm sure some of you might help me with my question.

I've created a path on top of a image, and I'd like to erase just a very tiny curve inside this path, so I can have the background(image) visible behind it.
I want to have a offset letter tail of a letter "y".
Just 1 mm off to the right and 0.5 mm of to the bottom, of the "y" letter. Shading is the background to the image.
So, I'was trying to do it with the erase tool but without success.

Thanks in advance!

Jivan

Hello Bert:

Thanks for your response!

OK, I will make an example!

Imagine you 've created square as path, and you want at one side of the square erase a part(5mm long, 1mm wide) of that path in a shape of a inverted c, a curve.

How do you erase just small part of a path in a curve(half moon, inverted c) shape form?

Hi Bert:

No, I sent you to your e-mail an image example.

Sorry but I did not know how to post an image.

Hope it will clarify.

Bert:

I did exclude but unfortunately nothing happend.

Just in case I explain again.
Next to the last part of the y tail, I want to make a follow up curve, erasing the background, in this case is the path.
This hole will be a small curve (1mm to the right and 0.5mm to the bottom) as the letter y finish!

When I used the eraser tool did not make small as I need it, instead erased almost the whole path.
