I have been trying to use my eraser tool and I can't seem to get it to work. I am trying to figure out how I can erase or delete some of the backgound colour from a tif image from Photoshop. It is a square and I am trying to put a faded flower image in the background of the image. the square image is overlapping the flower image in the background and I can't seem to get it to work....does this make sense? Can anyone help?

The eraser tool in Illustrator is used only to erase portions of vector paths. If you need to edit pixels, you should do it in Photoshop. You may try to create a clipping mask around your foreground image to make the square box invisible, though. Best way is to open the original in Photoshop, delete unwanted parts and save with transparency (put art on layer 0 as opposed to BG layer).
