Erase Security Settings

IP 500 v8.0(43)
I don't know the security account credentials, although I do know the Administrator's, and I need to create new operators with view/edit access to Manager. What are my options? Do I need to erase security settings, and does this feature reset the passwords for the operator accounts or for all individual IP Office phone users?

Hi Fortage,

If the default security settings aren't working then you will have to be brave and use the DTE port to default them.

Luckily there is a handy demo on Youtube for this.

Connect with DTE (serial cable) with 38400,8,n,1
Then type AT-SECURITYRESETALL

Type the mac address (shown on screen) and you are done.

What does file-advanced-erase security setting do? I thought that option might be what I was looking for.

That option only works when you actually know the security settings password
If you do not know it then you need to use the DTE port.

Is the only default "security" password, securitypwd? or are the others, maybe based on the control unit or version?

my last one was on a pentium4 about a million years ago since then I have to use usb to serial bridge which doesn't work on my Windows8 machine any more.

It will default the system passwords like the one for manager,operator,administrator but nothing in the config.

I still have an old one from aten that has the old chip in it.
I am just to cheap to buy a new one because I have 3 of these old things that have accumulated over the years. Every time I misplaced one I bought a new one

actually that is now called monetary responsible I think in our politically correct time

I bought my Laptop on sale and it is a consumer quality Laptop not a business laptop but I get the 17.3 inch screen (with my eyesight important) and installed my own os onto it that I purchased extra.
it was a few hundred bucks cheaper than a comparable business class laptop and if it lasts another year then I might buy myself a new one for the money I saved then.
I only put in a solid state HDD so that I can drop it a bit harder, when a customer ticks me off too much, without killing it.
