Erase Line 1

I have created a map in illustrator by tracing over a scan. Still, there is a portion of one line that I do not need.

Is there any way I can just erase it (similar to the eraser tool in photoshop)?

I would suggest adding endpoints to both ends of the segment you want to erase. Do this using the pen with the plus sign--just click on the line you've already traced to add an end point. then using the direct selection tool (the white arrow), click on the section you want to erase. Then hit delete. That should do it.
