My Norstar Startalk 180 is always verging on full capacity. My users say that they are managing their mailboxes but because the administration console does not allow me to see the volume of messages of any one mailbox I am unable to verify that this they are managing their mailboxes properly.
It does seem very odd that the total capacity is always less than 30 minutes away from being full. I am starting to think that there are old messages ‘stuck’ in the system somewhere. So I want to delete all messages from all mailboxes and see if I can recoup all 180 mins.

Can anyone help?

I have found this on a couple of systems where the general delivery mail box is not assigned to a extention but it is not disabled. check that first.

I don't know of a good way to delete all messages, but why don't you just print the reports to see where all of the time is being used?

The general mailbox is active and message and I know that messages are being deleted from it as I check that one myself.

As for printing reports, the information is limited to mailbox activity as opposed to capacity. I am able to see the length of messages received but as it does not tells me what was deleted or which messages are currently in the mailbox I am unable to establish the percentage volume.

i am always impressed when people use 1990 technology...get yourself a up to date voicemail you are just living on borrowed time the old startalk

ski season has started

Why thank you for that valuable nugget of advice...I hadn't thought of that!!

reset the whole database.. it'll clear up everything. :-d I would recommend telling your employees to listen to the messages and erase them. Those who do not need it, don't give them one. Just wastes time. Also, if you program the voicemail and system correctly, you shouldn't have this problem.
