We recently hot-swapped one of our main servers which has 72GB disks in it Raid5 (just to make sure everything would work in case of failure). Now we would like to wipe all the data off of our now "extra" disk, however none of our spare, scrap machines have 72GB disks (only 36's). How can I wipe the data off this disk using the other machines?

**We were thinking of popping in SmartStart, then swapping in the disk, so the array wouldn't try to rebuild... and then maybe finding an option to erase the disks?...

Suggestions please?

Thanks,

Chris

Since they are scrap machines, take out the existing drives (keep them in order, if you care about your data on them), pu the 72GB drive in, pop in the smartstart CD like you mentioned, and run an erase on the drive. Once it's done, then pull the drive, pop in the other drive(s) back in order and reboot machine minus smartstart. You should be fine.
