My company wants to have all equipment checksheets on a handheld device that can then be downloaded to computer for trending operational data ie. pressures, temps, etc...
An idea was to scan barcode that would bring up individual pump/motor where data would be input. Is there software readily available?, can this be done?, any ideas would be helpful

Software depends on the handheld device
Each manufacturer offers software or third party options.

Keep in mind a laptop is sometimes cheaper than handheld at today’s prices coupled with a regular barcode scanner for $100.00 to $300.00. You can have the ultimate program in VB, C++, .NET, Access, Excel or anything you can dream of. It a will blow away any functionality of any handheld out there as far as speed and amount of data.
So if size in not an issue and you can put it on a cart. Keep in mind the information needs to get from the handheld to a PC at some point so why not just scan it into the PC/laptop and eliminate the handheld altogether.
Just a thought…
