Hello,

I'm actually not certain if this is a POS issue or a hardware issue. Two nights ago our kitchen printer (Epson U200) died (actually was pushed off the shelf). I switched it out for a Epson U220. Seemed to work fine. Yay. Then last night I got a message that the new U220 printer had repeated several items on an order chit; I confirmed duplicates were not entered in on terminal. It only happened once last night. I've been searching forums and googling for a cause/solution with no luck, and it just happened again.

Any ideas? Random, different items. So far the occurrences are widely spaced, though the first was during the dinner rush and this one was during the lunch rush. No other problems, no error messages at the printer itself. We're running Aloha 6.4.29 on XP terminals, with 2003 Server for the BOH.

Thanks for any suggestions.

If the printer is a Network - opos printer then the wiring is your problem. I have seen it many times, Opos printers with Aloha will repeat an order if the communications are shoddy. You can try a ping -t command from the network to check for connectivity problems. Replace your network cable, possibly damaged by the fall.

If it's a serial printer then check the dip switch ssettings on the bottom of the printer.

Cheers,
Coorsman

Thanks Coorsman.

I just double checked the hardware settings on the Aloha side. I didn't change them when I switched out the printer- assumed the previous one was set up as a U200 (since that's what it was) and when the U220 seemed to be fine I never went back and double checked. Turns out it was set up as a TM 300. Just changed it to U200. No problems in the last few hours, but we'll see.

It has the serial interface, but we're using an adapter to connect to the network cable. No apparent connectivity problems, but if the problem happens again I'll check the cable. Dip switches are set correctly.
