Epson Thermal Printer: "Paper Out" Light Comes On Too Soon (Micros)

We have TM-T88111 Epson Thermal Printers as part of our Micros 3700 system. The "paper out" light is coming on when we still have a good quarter roll of thermal paper left. It stops printing at that point. Is there some adjustment I can make?

Not a very technical solution but I have found that putting the plastic center from an empty roll under the roll of paper allows you to use the entire roll.

There is a hammer shaped sensor on the side where the paper roll sits. Tape over it and replace the paper when you hit the red marker on the paper
