A problem that I've observed with both of our Epson DFX-5000+ printers is that often when switching from the rear to the front tractor, it will start to load, then with paper on the platen produce three sets of three beeps, then shut down. It takes 10-20 minutes unplugged for it to come back on again. The users have also reported where the printer will suddenly start printing everything on one line (not advancing the paper)just prior to the events that cause the shut down. We print exclusively from the front tractor, but will swap tractors in order to reset the paper into the proper position.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

The error code given by the printer (3 sets of 3 beeps) indicates Platen gap adjustment trouble. The three suggested actions are 1. PG Home sensor is broken 2. PG motor is broken 3. Parallelism adjustment is incorrect.
