I have a Epson C80 inkjet printer that is leaking ink on the left hand side. This is the second time within 2 years this has happen. I am using the expensive "geninue" epson cartridges. Using paper towels I have dried up most of the ink but I still get bad print outs. Any ideas or suggestions as to how to fix the problem? thanks in advance.

I would contact Epson Support to see if this is a known problem. Besides the leaking cartridges, have you used cartridges that worked OK?

Unfortunately this is what normally happens towards the end of a printers life.
At the end of each print job the printer heads come to rest in like a well and the nozels are sealed as they push against a rubber/foam mat.
After years of use there is a gradual build up of ink residue/sludge in this well to the point that the ink leaks out, this blue/black gundge gets carried onto the rollers and this is when you start to see smearing as the rollers impart the ink to the paper.
Of course you could attempt a big clean up job!!!
But let me point out these printers were never designed to be routinely cleaned by the end user, they are regarded as throw away when they get this bad.
If you can sucessfully strip and thougoughly clean out this ink sludge and rollers you should be able to get another couple of years out of it if you are lucky but it's a messy job so wear some latex gloves.
Plenty of water is the key to disolve all this sludge but be careful not to wet important circuitry.
Best of luck

Thanks all for the info. I spoke to one of the printer Techs where I work and he is aware of the printer leaks from Epson printers. He is going to clean it for me. I feel I should get more than 2 years of use from this product. They don't make printers like they use to.

Thanks again for your help.

I agree about printer life. I keep an old Epson Stylus 600 (ten years old), for temporary use when my "All in One" needs warranty replacement (twice so far), and for friends to use until they can get down to buy a new printer! Good luck on the cleaning, I've tried a few Epsons, and that "cleaning pad" is a three piece plastic assembly, with two tiny springs. Haven't been sucessful yet......

I had an Epson Stylus 600 that died because of a clogged print head one year after I bought it. Clogged so bad it could not be repaired for less than the cost of a new printer.
Now I like HP. My current HP 882C printer (and most HP printers like it) have the print nozzles built in to the ink cartrige. So I get new print nozzles everytime I replace the ink. A little more expensive but worth it IMHO.

Now i know why my HP printers take a licking and keep on ticking! Thanks for the info Frank4d!
