Hello.

First of all, my english is a bit rusty, so don't be surprised if i make weird sentences, i usually speak french.

I am presently working on a 216 page catalogue made by someone else, one year ago. The original creator included EPS pages in the layout, but now i have to make changes to the catalogue, and so to the EPS pages. I have all the seperate EPS pages, but when i double-clic to open them, nothing happens. Same thing happens when i right-clic on the file and choose to open with Quark, which is the default program.

I am working on Quark Xpress Passeport 6,5 on Mac.

Please help!

Thank you,

Sarah

Hi HiTechAbrasives
I don't think you can make changes to an EPS page with Quark or double click to open it.
Maybe if you have PhotoShop you could make some changes.
Was the original page set up in Quark and then saved as an EPS? if so you might have to start from scratch.
You can use get info and choose Open With and then choose PhotoShop to open with when you double click. Graphics Converter will open and convert EPS files also.
Hope this helps

Yes the pages were made in Quark and then saved as EPS pages.
I was able to do some changes to the text by opening the page in Illustrator, but i can't change anything else....

I think it will be a lot easier and faster to start again from scratch, i am realy losing time by looking for a solution!

Thanks for your reply =)

...i agree, quark eps is a real pain...

...in your situation the only thing you can do is work on it in illustrator, but this can be hit and miss as to what you'll get, font problems, images going wrong etc...

...can of worms really, sometimes it can be better to chuck the eps through distiller and make a pdf and make edits via acrobat pro and the enfocus pitstop plugin, but i've also been in the prepress situation fixing quark eps files in illustrator simply because the source quark file hasn't been kept with the job...

...very frustrating, "thinking of your fellow man" can go along way, and can help you out too before you know it...

...eps is basically an image format, so document structure is flattened into clipping groups and so forth, quark can only place these in picture boxes and print them out (if your lucky)...

...good luck with it!!

...i feel your pain!!

Andrew

Maybe you can get the original Quark files from the person who did it to begin with.
