I created an eps file using a printer driver then transferred it to my computer. When I open the eps in illustrator, I have a compound path made of lines and dots. If I apply a stroke weight, the path appears to have a thicker line on the "line" portion of the path and no increase in the stroke on the "dot" portion. I have tried expanding, outlining, grouping etc. The only thing that seems to work at all is to apply a brush stroke that I created as a calligraphic brush with 0.5 pt size, but this takes quite a bit of time to apply and is not practical for the number of files I must edit. I would be happy to send the eps file to anyone who wants to take a look. I believe the problem is similar to thread226-1249617, but no final solution is posted there.
