I know you know the answer to this one !!!

Right i have got CR 9 advanced and it comes bundled with eportfolio lite (not the full product but so what).

The issue is that when i run a report that uses ADO OLED to query the dbase from eportfolio i get a page asking me for User ID and Password.

I do not get this when i 'Save data with report' (I guess thats becuase i am not querying data, it is just a static report.

The question is then "How do i get rid of the annoying logon screen ?".

Many thanks for your help.

James

Installed in the same folder as ePortfolio, you should have something called Enterprise Mgmt Console.
When you bring this up, it actually calls itself 'Crystal Management Console' (and opens in your active IE window, but that's another gripe).
If you get this, you should be able to log on, click 'manage folders', go to the folder with the report you want to change, go to that report, click the 'database' tab.

Here you should click on 'use original database logon info from report' and add the password. Then you HAVE TO SCROLL DOWN and click 'UPDATE' or it won't work.
You should then be able to go to the properties tab, hit 'preview' and see the report without having to log in again.

Hi iCougari here.

Found a way around it.

I found the database object in interactive.asp and added 2 variables
Dim Password
Dim Username

Then passed them to the database object and it works a dream.

:)

Thanks; I see now that I can get the report location from crystal enterprise and use this to locate the report I want to change. I can then make changes and save right back into the same folder. Cool!
One caveat for anyone else reading this: I did notice that you can't just save any old report over top of an existing CE report - you have to get the CE report from the folder and make changes to that one. I guess CE does something to the report when it is initially imported so that it can recognize it later.

Hi,
Correct..CE does quite a bit to a published report - but mainly it makes a COPY of the report and places that in the INPUT server's directory...It is that COPY that needs any mods done on it, unless you want to delete and re-publish ( with the resultant new ID# )..
