ePO reports "No Agent" - that's all

When I generate various reports with ePO (eg DAT Deployment) I get a bunch of lines that just say 'No Agent -- --' and that's it. They are nicely organized under various branches.

They show up when you drill down through 'Uninstalled Agents'.

I also have some that say 'No Agent', but are qualified by saying what the machine name is etc, which I can understand.

But this blank No Agent makes me scratch my head. How do I get rid of them? Is this some database corruption or Null entries that can be cleaned out?

Thanks for looking!

I also have this problem. I currently have a call in with NAI to resolve. No solution as yet. I will post it if I get one.

We have this on our EPO reports and ours relates to older agents, only the newer agents 3.1.1.184 show on the reports. An upgrade of the agents solved our problem.

Whilst waiting for NAI to come up with an explanation and solution I have worked this one out myself.

The term "uninstalled agents" under ePO 3 used to be "no agent installed" under ePO 2.x and older.

The report gets the node name (hostname) from the data in the ePO directory.

What it should do is get the node name from the node name itself.

Because the entry in the ePO directory does not have any data under it, no information can be added to the report.

These entries with no data arise where the update domain or domain sync task is used. New nodes are added to the epo directory (the domain sync task also pushes the the agent).
The agent install fails for whatever reason and you end up with just the hostname in the epo directory.

Unless you investigate, remove the entry or manually install the agent they remain indefinitely.

They do not get cleared out by the innactive agent maintenance task either. Probably because they have no agent to be innactive.

Prime examples of these empty entries are non windows clients on the network which appear in the domain browse list.

NAI have accepted this is an issue and have submitted it as an FMR but don't hold your breath.
If more people complain, they are more likely to change this behaviour sooner.

My problem is that I don't even have a hostname to work with. It's just blank.

You will note entries in your epo directory (nodes) which do not have the green tick on the icon.

Those nodes are the ones which are being displayed erroneously on the report because there is no data under the node.

My bad. Sorry. Now I get what yer sayin.

I need a holiday. Maybe a new job. I hear Organic Farming is where its at.
