ent4 is a EtherChannel on physical adapters ent0/ent1

with padmin :

$ lsdev |grep ent
ent0 Available 2-Port 10/100/1000 Base-TX PCI-X Adapter (1410890
ent1 Available 2-Port 10/100/1000 Base-TX PCI-X Adapter (1410890
ent2 Available Virtual I/O Ethernet Adapter (l-lan)
ent3 Available Virtual I/O Ethernet Adapter (l-lan)
ent4 Available EtherChannel / IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation
ent5 Available Shared Ethernet Adapter

$ entstat ent4

Some error messages may contain invalid information
for the Virtual I/O Server environment.

entstat: 0909-003 Unable to connect to device ent4, errno = 19

with root :

$ oem_setup_env
# lsdev |grep ent
ent0 Available 05-08 2-Port 10/100/1000 Base-TX PCI-X Adapter (14108902)

ent3 Available Virtual I/O Ethernet Adapter (l-lan)
ent4 Available EtherChannel / IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation
ent5 Available Shared Ethernet Adapter
# entstat -d ent4

entstat: 0909-003 Unable to connect to device ent4, errno = 19

$ ioslevel
1.2.1.0-FP-7.1

# oslevel -s
5300-04-00

On a normal client Lpar (same oslevel) with 2 dedicated physical adapters (and Etherchannel defined) is is OK ...

found the problem : entstat must be done on the SEA (ent5)

client <== ent3 <==> ent5 (layer2 bridge) <==> ent4 EtherChannel ==> physical ent0/ent1]
