Hello,
This is probably a super easy fix, however, not to me.
Entourage opens by itself. I'll be working in another application and all of a sudden, the program opens. Apparently, there is an email waiting, not all the time. Most times, I'll hit send/receive and there's a new message. I've checked through all the preferences and system start up items. Unless, Entourage is labled something else in the start up. I have no clue.
I'd like this behaviour to stop, in that, it interupts other programs that crunch critical data (to me, at least) .
Thanks for your help.

InEntourage go to Tools menu/Schedules and see if you have one to check for mail. For instance, on my machine, its set to check every 15 minutes.

You can also check System Prefereces/Accounts. Click on your account and check Startup Items. If it's there, and you don't want that, ditch it.

Lastly open the Mail app that came with the machine and go to Preferences, general. See what the default email app is and what's set for check for mail. Mail prefs can be used to do theis stuff with any email app, not just Mail.

jmgalvin,
Thank you for your reponse. I did as you suggested all the items in the post.
Under Schedules, the two 'instances' I have in there both say 'Manual', I guess, meaning to run them only manually.
I've never initialized Mail, which came with the system, meaning, I'd have to set it up even to view the Preferences, so I guess that's out.
Lastly, I checked my Accounts under system Preferences and Entourage is not there. There is an Entourage compatible menu clock that starts, but I don't think that has anything to do with my issue...oh, now wait a second, there is a check for Entourage updates in the menu clock prefs with 60 minutes checked. I'll check the manual button and see what happens. I'll keep you informed. Thanks again.
