I have been given responsibility on an existing SQL server system and I am trying to understand its capabilities.

How can I identify the edition ( Standard or Enterprise )?
I have tried the usual 'About' option but all it gives me is a version number, not an edition description.

Dazed and confused

Execute this line in Query Analyzer:

Code:
SELECT @@VERSION

Towards the end of the result, it will tell you the version. For example, the output on my server is:

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X86) Dec 17 2002 14:22:05 Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition on Windows NT 4.0 (Build 1381: Service Pack 6)
