I two clients who are on the same remote SQL server. I am unable to add the same server twice as I get the error message "A SQL Server already exists with this name". I tried to add one of the servers to a new sql server group but it gave the same error message. Is there a way I can add both these to SQL servers to enterpise manager (currently I have to change the username and password each time to connect to each separate database

Use the client network utility to define an alias for one of the servers.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

Sorry, not familiar what the client network utility is. Can you give me a little more of a description of how I would do this?

Thanks for your help

Under programs\Microsoft sql server you should have the client network utility. It should have been installed with the client tools.

Run it - go to the alias tab
Type in an alias and the server name (for the correct network library).
You should now be able to register for the server name and the alias with different attributes.
