Hi, I am fairly new to Enterprise manager so not sure if there is a simple answer to this problem I'm having.

I was hoping someone could shed some light on an issue I'm having on Enterprise Manager ver 3.
I am using auto discovery to discover my local subnet. There is one 3300 MX controller which is discovered. The problem is when I want to enter the username and password for this controller under properties and I try and save it, it pops up with an error that reads "Must specify subnet". Why would it discover the controller and it's detail, IP address etc and not the subnet mask? That field is grayed out, which I assume is correct, and is populated with 0.0.0.0 which is incorrect.

The local subnet is a full Class C with network 155.240.171.0. Could the problem perhaps lie in the network range config?

I haven't tried to create it manually as I would rather use the auto discovery method as I assume it's the cleanest way of doing things. Any ideas?

What does the Application Event log on the server say? Example, on the EM server PC right-click on My Computer, then select & left-click on Manage then open the (+) on Event Viewer then double-click on Application. In the right-hand pane look to see if there are any warnings or errors. Double-click on the warning(s) or error(s) to see what's happening.

If you go directly to the 3300 (not thru EM or Ops) what is the subnet mask that was assigned to the controller?

the subnet on the controller is a class C. Yes I know 155 is a class B but these guys are multinetting their networks as they don't need more than 254 hosts per subnet.

I thought that this might be the problem, the fact that 155 is a Class B address, but surely Ent Mngr should cater for this?

Maybe it does have a problem with multinetting/supernetting..

Could be. You might want to check the KPI along with the release notes. By the way, looks like there's a brand new release of Enterprise Manager (w/Ops Man) that was just released last Friday. The release notes don't mention any bugswats. Sorry I cannpt be more help.

If you have access to Mitel On Line Tech support, go to the software downloads section for Ent. Mgr and download the release notes then read the area for customer reported problems.

I did find something relating to IP addressing but I think it's more to do with having different IP's listed in the same subnet or something. Thanks for the help anyway.

PS: I am downloading a copy of the new ent/ops
