Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone kenw how to transfer EM settings from one PC 10 another. I have about 40 servers registered on in EM on my local PC and have to set them all up on a further 4 PC's. Rather than register them all up manually, was wondering if anyone knows where the config settings are held so I could just copy them all over from the one existing set up to all the other PC's.

Cheers,

Mutley.

I do not think there is such a tool, stored procedure or job to accomplish that. But I may be worng and there may be some registery entries that can be replicated.

Thanks

Hi Jay,

Sorry - wasn't clear in the original.I know there's no SP etc.....was after the settings / files on the PC that might hold the info. Thanks for the suggestion though - will look through registry as i don't think it's anything in the Binn directory etc.

its in the registry.

here is the location on mine

hkcurrentuser/software/microsoft/microsoft sql server/80/tools/sqlew/registered servers x/

inside that is your sql server user groups.

hope this helps.

Thanks Corran,

so far I've found the following relative to SQL in the registry, copied them all over and still no joy.......

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\SQLEW\Registered Servers X

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Client\PrefServers

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\ConnectTo

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\SuperSocketNetLib\LastConnect

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\TDS

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-19228943-1717525916-1086793644-2831\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Client\PrefServers

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-19228943-1717525916-1086793644-2831\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\SQLEW\Registered Servers X

If these are new machines that you are setting u it might be easier to ghost your machine and restore to the 4 other machines then change any needed info.
