hi all,
I could use a little help with licensing CE 9, I am looking at concurrent licensing, and wonder just how this works on the ePortal. Are the licenses only in use while actually running a report, or if I have ten authenticated users on the ePortal, does the eleventh user get denied access to the ePortal? Can the CE 9 report engine queue requests, and let a user know he's in line?

thanks,
Bill

A concurrent Access License (CAL) allows you to have as many people actively logged into the CE system as your CAL allows.

A license is consumed on log in and has nothing to do with running reports.

In your case this is 10. If a 11th users tried to log in, they will get a message that all license are in use or an error saying account information not recognized (this one is odd).

There is also not a queueing process. User must simply retry again until they are allowed in.

Depending on your system dynamics (how long people are in the system for), you may be able to manipulate the License session setting on the system to facilitate a faster cleanup/release.

In the CCM, you can add the switch to the WCS -DefaultSessionTimeout X

X = a number of minutes (like 10 or 5 etc.)

Do not make this too low or you will start blowing users out of the system before they are ready.
