Hello,

We are running Enterprise Server 2003 on a trial basis. Too much program and too much money for us. So, I bought the Small Business 2003 Version. It should do everything we need.

My trial is gone in about a week. I need to install the new program and migrate the shared folders.

How difficult is this? I am a WINDOWS NOVICE. More of a MAC guy.
I searched and searched this site MS but I find nothing specific about how to do this.

The Tek guy that set everything up has left town. So, I am on my own. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Don

It won't be too difficult if you stick to the wizards, and once it's installed, go through the initial set of task wizards. Create your users using the wizards.

You can set up your shares the same way you did on Enterprise server.

I would just back up your shared folders to an external harddrive, verify that the copy was good, and then go about installing the SBS OS on top of that. Run the wizards, create your users, and then join the workstations to the new domain.

How?

1. Configure all clients to point to the new server's IP (and only that) for DNS.

2. On each computer log on as the local administrator and browse to on each workstation to join it to the new "domain".

Check in here with us if you want to check on anything else.
