Hi,

We're about to upgrade from 8.5 to 10 and I've been looking through the features. I have a couple of questions:

1) In user profiles there is now an email field. I can't find any detail on it in the on-line help. Can it be used to pass the smtp email address to report schedules set to email? I'm hoping it can as we have a lot of name changes and it would be nice to update it on the user profiles not have to go through every email report trying to work out if they are on the distribution...

2) Is it possible to email more that one report on the same schedule? I know you couldn't do it in 8.5 but I was wondering if it was now possible. I have a half dozen managers complaining because they receive more than one mail from me a day with a report attachment.

Thanks

Paulos

AFAIK neither of these features are available "out of the box". Potentially you could write custom code to perform the takes, but it would be a lot of work. Can't you manage the distribution groups on your mail server and then use standard email groups? e.g. Sales_Reports@yourdomain.com

#2 would not be too hard with some (un)managed reports, a script to attach and send the email, and a CE Object package to wrap it in. But still, personally, I don't think it's worth it. (although both the requirements are perfectly reasonable).

You could also look into 3rd party offerings.

Since we're on CE9, I don't know what the email field is used for out of the box in 10. But if it's available in the SDK, a "simple" query can return it into the destination address field in an ePortfolio page. I have a 3-line change to a .csp file to default the To: address to username@our.domain, and it works like a charm.
