EnterNet (PPPoE) Works -- Browsing/EMail Doesn't

I have experienced this problem with Windows 98 and Windows 2000.

I can connect perfectly fine using the EnterNet software, but when I try to browse or get email, it seems as though that software thinks I'm not connected to the net.

I've gone through the Connection wizard and selected LAN connection, etc. and still no luck.

Today it happened with Win 2000. The only way I could get things working again was to "Restore Last Working Configuration" (or something like that using F8 before starting the program).

In Windows 98, I got things working again by doing a "Winrescue" restore of the registry.

Does anybody know what I'm "toggling" that causes this behaviour?

Also, in Windows 2000, there seems to be a 1 minute "lag" before I can start up EnterNet. Perhaps this is just due to initialization of the LAN card?

Thanks to anyone who can offer me suggestions.
