I use a history table to store records that have been changed by an append query. The thing is that i'd like to be able to show the new field value, along with the one I changed. Is there some code I can place in my append query I can use to simply show the new field value?

Could you explain further and perhaps post the query SQL?

An append query should add records to a table. It should not change any existing records.

Although it would be a radical departure from your current process, see faq181-1291 for an example of preserving the details of changes to the data.

To DIRECTLY support the process you are currently using would require an additional field in the table for each possible field which could change in the original record.
