After receiving great help with my OL 2003 a couple of weeks ago, it was all cleared up and working. Now for some reason, every time my OL automatically or manually checks for Email, I get the Enter Network Password popup box.

I have changed nothing... all the information is untouched and unchanged and is correct in the popup - presuming the **'ed password is correct and when entered manually it still happens.

If I click OK, it just keeps popping back up. If I click Cancel it goes away, but I get no new Emails.

Any ideas how to make this stop?
Many thanks
Mark

Try removing any cached passwords you have.

Start> Settings> Control Panel> User Accounts> Advanced> Manage Passwords> Remove your account in there.

Thanks JHaith... I can't do that. I go control panel-User Accounts and that's it... from there I get a page with accounts shown... no advanced tab. There are 3 options, then the accounts. The Options are Change an account, create a new account or change the way users log on or off.

The account avitars show the accounts:
I have my main account a Guest Account that is off and an ASP.Net Machine A account that is limited account , password protected... I think that is an ISP self help program account.

I am using Windows XP. Any ideas?
Thanks
Mark

I'm sorry, didn't give enough detail. When you open up your Control Panel, you'll need to switch to Classic View, then select User Accounts and follow the instructions I gave you. The "Switch to Classic View" should be up in the top left corner when you open the control panel, it will then give you a detailed list of options instead of the icon list you see now. Let me know if you have any problems.

Thank you Jhaith. I did it that way previously.. I get into User Accounts and it is laid out as I outlined above... 3 lines, then 3 avitars under that. There are no tabs for Advanced> Manage Passwords. Just 3 lined options:
Change an account
Create a new account
Change the way users log on or off.

Then under that there are 3 account avitars showing the accounts:
Main account
Guest Account that is off
ASP.Net Machine A account that is limited account , password protected... I think that is an ISP self help program account.

In the upper left hand corner there is a 'Learn about' box with ?'s about User Accounts, User Account types and Switching Accounts. I see absolutely nothing on the User Accounts page about Advanced or Manage Passwords.

Now if I pick Change an account, then my main account there are related tasks of Manage my network passwords (which pops up an empty box-I presume since I am not on a network) and Prevent forgotten passwords, but no advanced tab.

Try running this command, make sure you're logged in as an administrator.

Start> Run> rundll32.exe keymgr.dll, KRShowKeyMgr

Stored User names and passwords box pops up. Empty

Open Outlook, go to Tools> Send/Receive> Send/Receive Settings> check Show Progress. Then do a Send/Receive and see if you're getting an error after you enter your username/password.

Hmmm... not quite sure I follow you. When I go to show progress, the progress box pops up... no option for entering user name or password

Nothing... I am beginning to think that the last AVG free edition download has done something. For it to wig out a couple weeks ago and go through all that to get it fixed, then happen again... that is the only thing that is changed.

I am going to write AVG and see if they have other complaints and a fix for this.

Thanks for all your help JHaith.

This is so weird. I basically did the same thing you advised me to last time - which was a different problem. Start an account in Outlook Express (which I really dislike), delete my existing account in OL '03, then start up a new account in OL '03 - all with the exact same information BTW and it is up and running.

Something... I don't know what... is getting disconnected or deleted or something. I joined up on AVG forum and searched - no related topics, but I did post a message so we will see what comes up there. If it is an AVG issue I will post it here so everyone else can learn from it.

Thanks again
Mark

That's really odd. I'll see if I can come up with something as to why it would do that and post back, got me curious.
