One of the fields that I have is "Management Unit" and I have my report doing a Page Break at each new Management Unit however, I need it to now put the number 1 on the top of my report ONLY when the management unit changes, so if I have 3 pages of the same management unit page number 1 would have the number 1, BUT if it does not change on page 2 then page 2 needs to NOT put the number 1, it would need to remain blank until the next time the management unit changed.

I'm using version 7.0, and help with this would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks

I'm not sure what the features of 7.0 are, but try going to format->section->group footer and check "Reset page number after." Then go to suppress->x+2 and enter:

pagenumber <> 1

That is very close, it is putting page number 1 everytime it breaks, but it is not leaving the page number 2 blank, it is putting in the number 2. Is there a way to say that if the field is greater than one to leave it blank?

Sorry, the suppression should not go on the section, but on the pagenumber field itself. Place the pagenumber in the page header, and then right click on it->format field->common->suppress->x+2 and enter:

pagenumber <> 1

That worked Perfect, thanks for the Clarification!

O.K,

NOW, what do I have to do to get that field to show when I export it as a .RTF format? It is disappearing? any help on that?

I don't know much about working with exported reports. I did a test and exported in RTF, and the page header fields, including the pagenumber, appeared in the header of the Word document--they displayed as a light gray on the screen, but printed as expected, with the exception that the conditional suppression of the pagenumber no longer worked. I have seen references to suppressed fields appearing upon export in other threads, so you might want to do a search or start on a new thread on this issue.
