Hi

I've got a site with Ent Man 4, which seems everytime you reboot the server the EMS / NMS services don't seem to start. Also the apache services don't seem to start. If i go to a URL and put in it comes up with an Internal System error

Any ideas?

More info...

Noticed that in the services the Ent Man EMS service and apache service weren't started. Can start the apache one but the EMS one won't start, you get Error 1067 sevice unexpectedly stopped

What else is running on the server? I've run across a similar issue before, the antivirus client running on the server was screwing up the Apache service.

Hi there, I have a simular issue with Entman 3.1. I try to run Entman and it won't recognize any logins. The Entman EMS/NMS service is not started, I go to start it then it locks up on Starting...

And get this error-Could not start Entman Server service ERROR 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

When this started, I could open up Opsman still through its URL, but now seems to be affecting that as well.

Any ideas?

Had to re-install to sort out

Raised a ticket with 3rd line and they said it was a known issue with R4 of Ent Man and Windows 2003 R2. Design were looking at it.

Not sure if it's the same for you?

Windows 2K3 R2 has been a problem for EMan as long as it's been out. If you can run the server without R2, do so.

Thanks Guys, yes we are running 2003 R2... I'm going to reload over it and see how that goes.

Cheers.

check you version of java. had similar problems and the java version was wrong. only install the one needed.

also had it another time but can't remember how I fixed this.

Also if the EMS/NMS service is the only one hanging, try stopping and re-starting the Apache service before attempting to re-start the EMS/NMS service. EMS/NMS is dependant on Apache, so if that has issues, EMS/NMS will never come up until you get Apache going right again.

The majority of the time that EMS/NMS will not start is due to licensing.
The license is bound to the NIC MAC address.
In most cases you can login to your AppRecordID on AMC to see what MAC it's bound to by looking at the HWid.
Ensure this is the NIC that is enabled and the only NIC.
E-manager doesn't handle multiple NIC's well..

Thanks Guys for all your advice.

Eventually I moved Entman/Opsman onto a new Server with 2003 SP1 with Entman 4.0.1.4 & Opsman 7.6.1.3. It is now working fine, had to clear the Hardware id off it but that was all.

Otherwise loaded fine and working as per normal now.

Thanks...
