hi all

can anyone tell me why Ent Man 5 is only supported on windoes 2003 sp1???

I take it there will be a patch later where they will support others? just a bit restrictive when upgrading!

We have this running on windows 2003 server sp2 on Ent rel-4 Does this now mean we can upgrade to 5.0? I thought this was support in Ent rel-4

my point exactly. In the Ent 5 RN it shows in big writing that 2003sp2 IS NOT SUPPORTED AT THIS TIME

mitelmatt:
I've installed it on SP2 without any errors, but I haven't yet actually run it, or connected it to a live 3300, I'm doing that friday, I'll let you know.

tomcotton:
You need to upgrade if you have a 3300 version 9.

THB says :"No service pack is required for the Windows 2003 Server"

The reason seems to be because of windows firewalling and all the "stuff" made in windows...thank you bill.

Now, it's about French users too !!!

MitelMatt,

I just checked the Engineering guidelines for Eman 5.0 it say that Windows 2000 is supported for all configurations.

Windows 2003 R2 is recommended but also Windows 2000 Server SP4 UR1 and in some configs even Windows XP PRO is supported (if only 2 nodes).

Where are you getting your information?

This is what is in the release notes

Note: Enterprise Manager Release 5.0 DOES NOT support Windows 2003 SP2

In big bold red writing

Ok,

But this only means that it does not support Windows 2003 SP2

Your assumption that Windows 2003 SP1 is the only supported OS is not correct.

The Enginnering guide states that Windows 2003 R2 is the most recent OS supported. This leads me to believe that W-2003 SP2 postdates R2 and as such is not supported.

Win2000 server SP4 UR1 is quite clearly supported and is on the recommended list along with Win2003 R2.

kwb

Totally here what your saying but the customer i'm dealing with has a policy of keeping up all the windows servers to latest packs so just trying to get all the info before going to them

There's also a TB out today re stating this

One of the members of this forum has a signature that states

"If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is"

Seems appropriate with respect to your customer.

Have fun.
