I need to enlarge a Photoshop PSD file to a huge 5 x 8 foot image (for Dupont printing onto glass) while keeping good resolution. Can I do this by opening it in Illustrator and converting the layers to objects? The original image has complex brushwork.
Enlarging a raster image will keep the resolution with no problem. You're just going to have huge pixels.
Explore Illustrator's Live Trace function to convert the raster image to a vector image. Either way, if you do not start out with an image at a decent resolution, you will not end up with an image at a decent resolution.
