Hello,

I can't seem to get my Enhanced Storage function under the SMC (solaris Management Console) to initialize. I keep getting a "Initialization FAILED" error when I click on the Enhanced Storage function under the SMC... Everything works fine with the SMC... Although I was having problems with the SMC after installing the Solaris 9 Recommended patches... But once I backed out (removed) of the patches dealing with the SMC It seemd okay except for the Enhanced storage part... To be honest with you I never tried the Enhanced Storage funtion before installing the patches...

The enhanced storage Initialization Failed produced a JAVA EXCEPTION TRACE: I get this exception under the GUI SMC under the console event tab.

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sun/admin/cis/common/ChangeAppState

Also noted I had already created my metadb state database for the Raid I was trying to develope... If anybody has any questions or comments I would appreciate it... Otherwise I will probably just blow the server away and start over... thanks

bcny33... I don't know if you corrupted SMC when you backed out the patches or you have a enhanced storage problem. Can you run the command metastat to see if your mirrors are setup and running correctly.

I ran the metastat command and eveything looked fine... I just hooked up another server which we had used as a test server when we first got solaris 9 software and I pluged it in and opend up the SMC tool and the ENHANCED STORAGE TOOL OPENED right up... I didnt' even have any raid drives or mirror drives set up on that server... So another words I dont think any patches where installed on that server and the SMC worked fine... I'm probably going to have to rebuild the server that I'm have problems with and start over and just be careful on what patches I install... Another words I wont just install the SOLARIS 9 Recommended cluster.... Maybe the solaris 9 version i have is the original one.... HOW do I tell if it is... How do you tell what version of solaris 9 I'm running... Maybe there were some fixes in the later version as far as the SMC goes in regard to patches etc...

Thanks

You should be able to tell if the version of Solaris that is running by typing showrev. If the version is not patched, it should come up with GENERIC instead of the current OS patch level.

Thank-you for the star bcny33...
