hi experts and other DBAs,

I have published standards for naming SPs, views etc.
Ironically, the developers are going along with the standards nicely; it's the managers that are giving me grief. A few managers in IT sometimes create views via Enterprise Manager.

I have to be careful here, because they ARE managers.

How can I make a case to the benefits of using naming standards ?

Maybe someone else has experienced this and can give me a suggestion on how to handle it.

Thanks, John

Say that all code has to be saved in sourcesafe - that will stop people creating things in enterprise manager.

Depends if you want to do your job or not. If you can't enforce standards then you should pass the task to someone who can.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
