Hi

I am looking at replicating our Linux server from one company to another (both use red hat).

However our current server is using 6.2.

We are trying to migrate across to a new server on red hat 9.

However when i try and add a group - It seems I am being forced to have all lower case.

Is this configerable - or a deliberate change from 6.2 (as we have nearly all mixed case on 6.2 in most things and as such means to use later red Hat we would need to change all our inhouse applications.)

If it is an enforced change - are there any links to confirm this.

You might want to check on the 6.2 system if IN FACT the mixed case group names are being honored by the shadow/passwd system.

It is possible that you can create a group called 'Wheel' and it is lowercased by PAM/Shadow when checking rights.

I don't know a direct answer to your question however.
