XP pro does not seem to recognize more than half of the CDs that i feed it. however, they work on other non-xp machines. a cd burned on 98 i can't read. from a mac i can't read. the all come up as empty, 0 used space, 0 free bytes. using creative cd-rw rw8439E. have tried cleaning both the CDs and the drive to no avail. thanks for any and all ideas.

I have experienced this before with XP Pro, it seems to be a problem with unfinalised CDs created under another OS.

My experience has been that the disks will read fine on 95, 98, ME but not on XP Pro unless they are finalised. I have not tried it with XP Home, but would expect the same results as XP Pro. Try finalising the disk on the system that created it, and then see if it will work on XP.
